Into September We Go…

I’m a summer lover—through and through. Long days, warm earth beneath my feet, sunshine on my face, even the humidity makes me smile. Summer awakens something in me: mind, body, and spirit. I always feel a little tug of sadness as it begins to fade.

But over the past few years, as I’ve deepened my intuition and energy practice, I’ve come to appreciate the gifts each season brings. Not just the shifts in temperature or daylight—but the unique energy each one carries. Just like each month, every season holds its own rhythm, its own invitation.

September, for me, is the season of beginnings. The energy of “back to school,” “back to work.” College move-ins. That bittersweet act of letting go—whether it’s your first grader or your freshman heading off. The energy feels entirely different than the carefree days of picnics, BBQs, fireflies, and sandy toes.

The beginning of September is ruled by the astrological sign of Virgo, and that feels fitting. Virgo brings purpose and duty. It revels in the details—and September certainly delivers. Families return to their calendars and routines, juggling responsibilities with a renewed sense of diligence. There’s a quiet hum of productivity in the air.

It’s also when nature begins to shift in ways we can see and feel. Leaves begin their transformation—some turning, some falling, carpeting our lawns. Sunlight softens, filtering through trees and windows at gentler angles.

If you’re working on developing your sensitivity to energy, the seasons are powerful teachers.

Pay close attention.

Step outside and notice how your body reacts to the chill. Watch the leaves—really look. Take in their colors, shapes, and patterns. Smell the crispness of the morning air. Observe new traffic rhythms. Take one moment of stillness each day to feel the difference between August and September.

Experience the shift. Lean into the sensation of pulling on a cozy sweater, or curling up with a blanket and a book. How does it feel—different from flip-flops and T-shirts? Savor that pumpkin spice latte (or whatever your fall favorite may be), and notice how it tastes, how it feels in contrast to your summer go-tos.

Here’s the secret: one of the most important keys to deepening your sensitivity to energy and intuition is observation.

The more you observe, the more you naturally slow down. And it’s in that slowness that you begin to notice what’s been around you all along. You’ll start to hear those gentle whispers—those intuitive nudges—more clearly.

So welcome, September. Let’s begin again.
